 "Start With A Faucet"

seven shivers
run gold
and shaken...

follow your musings
and behold...
a universe.

follow your musings
and behold...
the sea.

from seats
of stone
in the whitecapped
wood,

from the black lava
road in the braille
trees.

follow your musings
and behold...
a universe...

follow your musings
and behold...
the sea.

from the voice
in the woodlands
i am carried.

from the dove
in her river bed
we are set free.

"Temenos"

Inland, I went through landscapes
of sharp rocks that gnawed the sky
and ripped the azure...
I wanted to be a rock among rocks.
I was happy to be one, and proud.
Thus did I hold to the soil...

-Genet

The paintings are from a series of work entitled “Temenos”
(from the Greek verb, to cut).  The work is in acrylic,
watercolor and pencil on paper.  They’re an emotional
and physical response to the fecundity and wilderness
of the eastern Long Island coastline.

Temenos. A sacred precinct. A sacred circle where one
can be his or herself without fear.
